No, not that kinda bum.
As most of you probably know, I spent most of last week in Ohio at the Lori Foster Reader & Author Get Together. The people were amazing. From the readers who were friendly, curious, and supportive, to the experienced authors always ready to offer great advice and made you feel like you belonged. And to the other ‘virgins’ who spent time hiding in the bar, it was great to meet you!

Now, I’ll probably write a few more posts about the event within the next couple of days, but right now, what’s at the forefront of my mind, is how happy I am to be home.
West Chester is a lovely place. The air is clear, the people smile and say hello to you when you’re walking down the street. There was even a little pond right across from the hotel full of great big
geese. If you’re from West Chester, please don’t take offence, but to a city girl from Montreal, it was like being dropped in Pleasantville. I was never sure how to react. The only way I can think to explain myself it that it was like going to a five star restaurant after spending all your life going to burger joints and little local restaurants. Of course, the food is amazing! But after a few days of eating meals that look like works of art, I’d want a sloppy joe or a poutine.
Sorry if that doesn’t make any sense, but that’s how I felt. And after twenty hours on the bus, pulling up to the terminal in Montreal gave me an idea of how people stranded on little boats for days feel once they hit dry land. I dragged my luggage right outside, stood in the sun, and for the first time ever really appreciated how beautiful home really is.
Within two minutes, five bums came to ask me for cigarettes and change. I said no with a smile, insanely happy that they’d asked me in French.
PS-I hope you all enjoyed the kissing excerpts. If you haven’t gotten a chance to vote, the poll will be open until the 18th when I will announce the winner. During that time, you’ll still have the chance to comment to win one of my books or one of those being offered by the other authors. The reason I’m doing this is to give the authors that were scheduled later there time in the spotlight.
And don’t forget to comment when you vote! The voting thing doesn’t give me your email addresses so I can’t put you in the drawing. Thanks!
